"Mojito" is a professional trio consisting of Marcus Darc on bass, Ed Raynham on drums and myself on piano.
I'm not quite sure how to describe what we play - "cocktail jazz", "dinner jazz", "smooth jazz", "wedding jazz", etc., but, whatever it is, we have been doing it regularly over the last 5 years at weddings and other functions at many of the most prestigious venues in the South West such as Bovey Castle, Kitley House, St Mellion, Langdon Court, Buckland Tout Saints Hotel, etc. We also played at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow for the last couple of New Year's Eves. What it definitely isn't is "bowler hats and banjos" jazz, and it isn't "look how many notes we can play - aren't we clever" jazz either! I hope that explains it, but it's probably easiest to listen to the audio samples and make up your own mind.
We like to think that live music adds to the atmosphere of a wide range of functions, whilst at the same time not being intrusive or distracting, so that guests can hold normal conversations right next to us. We bring minimal equipment - all we need is a small flat area (indoors or outdoors), and a power point!
Our repertoire consists of literally hundreds of songs - plenty of the Gershwin or Cole Porter "standards" you would expect from a jazz trio, plus quite a few of our own unique arrangements of songs by artists such as Sting, Lionel Richie or the Bee Gees that you probably wouldn't!
Here is a list of some of the songs we play, although it changes all the time , and we are also always happy to take requests.
